Ketamine addiction left Amber with severe bladder damage. Now she faces major surgery, lasting health consequences and the possibility that she may never be able to have children.
In this 10-minute extract from K-HOLE: The Ketamine Documentary, Amber shares the reality of living with the physical consequences of prolonged ketamine use and addiction.
Presented by Matthew Butler, the film travels to Morecambe to meet Amber, a young mum whose ketamine use reached around three grams a day before life-changing bladder problems forced her to stop.
What initially felt like symptoms of a urinary tract infection became increasingly severe. Amber describes spending hours on the toilet, the impact ketamine had on her bladder and urinary system, and the damage she continues to live with years after stopping the drug.
Her story also raises a consequence rarely associated with recreational ketamine use: what severe ketamine-related damage can mean for someone's future, relationships, health and hopes of having children.
Amber's account is accompanied by professional insight into ketamine bladder damage and ketamine-induced urological problems, helping explain what prolonged use can do to the body and why recognising symptoms early matters.
